Toyota wants to defend its electric record with the EV P002 race car at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Official testing this weekend turned out well for Toyota Motorsport and Toyota Racing Development, as the two half-course run times summed up and showed a better time from the record-setting one from last year of 10 minutes and 15.380 seconds.
The EV P002 got all sorts of upgrades, such as aerodynamic changes, chassis modifications, new carbon ceramic brakes, as well as balance, braking, traction control and cooling tweaks to squeeze the most out of the electric racer.
Toyota’s biggest challenge will be represented by their new off-board battery-to-battery charging system, that will provide power source at the Pikes Peak track, where there is no other reliable local grid connection.
