Tough Global Economic Situation in 2013 Will Not Affect BMW Sales

The last few years proved to be disastrous for most of the automotive industry. Sales reached all-time lows and most manufacturers had to lower their prices and even let people go in order to stay afloat.

However, this doesn't seem to be the case for BMW. Recently they posted the best sales ever recorded by the Bavarian company, 2012 being a record year. The start of 2013 brought even better numbers, BMW continuing its increase in sales over the first 2 months of the year.

BMW's CEO, Norbert Reithofer stated that BMW will be expecting another record run in 2013. If this will be the case, it will be BMW's third, consecutive record breaking year. BMW will be releasing a forecast for 2013 on March 19.

Most groups in the industry, like Volkswagen, Audi and Daimler claim that this year will be a tough one. At this point, keeping the sales at the 2012 levels will be viewed as a success and that's the direction in which most manufacturers will focusing their efforts. Daimler AG forecasted in February that its operating profits in 2013 will be flat from 2012. Martin Winkerton, Volkswagen's CEO, said that this year the group expects profits to stay at the 2012 level while an increase is expected only in 2014.
