Toro Rosso Unveil STR6 in Valencia

Scuderia Toro Rosso has become the 8th team to present their 2011-spec challenger ahead of the Valencia group test this week. The Faenza based team announced since early January that they would have their car ready by the winter testing kick-off and they were good for it, showing the media their brand new STR6 in the pitlane of the Ricardo Tormo circuit.

As seen on all challengers so far, the high nose design is also present on the new STR6, along with reworked sidepods.

The STR6 is basically the second car, after its predecessor the STR5, that was completely designed by Scuderia Toro Rosso, after the Faenza team split with Red Bull Technologies at the end of the 2009 campaign.

The team did not announce the order by which its two drivers, Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari, will take the wheel of the STR6 challenger through the duration of the Valencia testing. Along with the two drivers, Daniel Ricciardo will also become a constant presence inside the F1 paddock, as he will be performing Friday driving duties for Franz Tost's squad.

With Scuderia Toro Rosso, the wave of teams presenting their 2011 challenger will stop in Valencia, as the remaining 4 squads – McLaren Mercedes, Force India Mercedes, Marussia Virgin and Hispania Racing – will unveil their challenger during the course of February (it might take longer for Hispania, as they won't have their new car ready by the Bahrain test in March).
