Toro Rosso Deny Interest from Arab Investors

There were a number of reports issued by Swiss newspaper Blick in recent days, and everybody seems to have eaten it with a big spoon (ourselves included). However, as it often happens after a bunch of stuff is written in the media, people come to deny the reports. And Scuderia Toro Rosso's team boss Franz Tost did just the same earlier today.

After Blick's reporters wrote earlier this week that a group of Arab investors are to purchase the Faenza-based team – we didn't even know it was for sale in the first place – prior to the start of the 2011 Formula One season.

There is no truth in that story,” Tost told the German website motorsport-magazin.com, as reported by the GMM news agency. Quite straightforward, no further explanations, we might add.

The team currently belongs to Red Bull's owner Dietrich Mateschitz and is regarded as a feeder squad for the Milton Keynes based organization. Meaning it prepares young talents to make a potential step towards Red Bull Racing, giving them the chance to get used to how Formula One works. Usually, the team signs drivers who are part of Red Bull's Young Development Programme.

Despite controlling both teams, Mateschitz' main focus is clearly on Red Bull Racing. In recent years, STR has managed to build its own technological center in order to design their own car in F1, as until 2010 the Toro Rosso challenger was based on the RBR chassis (developed in Red Bull's Technology Center).

As for the Blick rumors recently, the second one regarded Force India's lineup for 2011. According to the newspaper, Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta will drive the VJM car next year, with Nico Hulkenberg being a Friday driver. However, that report was recently denied by members of the drivers' management staff, with Force India to make an official announcement on the matter in about 2 weeks.
