Toro Rosso Boss Rules Out Ralf Schumacher Deal

After several media reports suggested that Ralf Schumacher might return to the Formula One championship with Scuderia Toro Rosso, the team's boss Franz Tost insisted that these are simply absurd allegations.

Tost has been linked to Ralf Schumacher's first steps in Formula One, during the German's days at Jordan. While employed by Ralf's former manager Willi Weber to take care of Michael's little brother's career in the Great Circle, the Austrian also switched to Williams-BMW when Ralf left Jordan for Frank Williams' team.

This, alongside the fact that the two are known to be good friends, led the media to suggest that Ralf may join Sebastien Buemi in the 2010 roster. In addition to the rumors, the German driver – currently racing in the DTM series with Mercedes' works team – avoided to dismiss the allegations, saying that he will not disclose anything in terms of teams with whom his is currently discussing the potential return.

I know nothing about it. It's not true and that's that. As far as I am concerned, it's nonsense,” Tost was quoted as saying by Germany's Auto Motor und Sport.

The Italian team is yet to appoint a second driver for the 2010 season, after already confirming Buemi for a second straight season at Faenza. Jaime Alguersuari, the teenager that debuted for STR during their 2009 campaign, is still waiting for a call from the Austrian boss, with the announcement pending on the Spaniard's sponsorship money.

When talking to the media in recent days, Alguersuari told the reporters that he is expecting a confirmation from Toro Rosso in the next few days.
