Topcar Shows 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 Body Kit Work-in-Progress

The new G63 is shaping up to be another cult car, even before any Hollywood celebrities had the chance to buy one. Some people still hate how old-fashioned this boxy luxury toy is, but for those who don't, there's some tuning goodness we want to share.

It comes from the Russian tuner Topcar. Frankly, we've been blown away with the work they did on the Porsche Panamera and are hoping for a repeat performance on G63.

The project is going to be ready in a few months, but we got a sneak preview from their Facebook page. This is work-in-progress at the clay sculpting phase. Frankly, seeing how much effort goes into re-designing a car, we'd pay $15,000 for one of their kits... if we had that kind of money... or a G63 to put it on.

And because clay doesn't cast shadows very well, Topcar also sketched some white lines over one of the photos, so that we know what's going on. The front end features the usual oversized air intakes with an over-complicated design. Thankfully, it's nothing like the one that came from the factory.

New headlight surrounds were also included, along with vents and an insert for the hood. That last part tells us some naked carbon fiber will be added just to give the Range Rover Sport SVR some competition.

The fenders are all flared out and detailed with some pointless vents. At the back, the G63 has matching intakes and a diffuser. That's about as an ashtray on a motorbike, but we're not going to complain.

Engine-wise, some ECU models are bound to arrive. When it leaves the factory, the new G63 does so with 585 HP and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque from its 4-liter V8. Twin-turbo goodness gets you to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and on to a top speed 240 km/h (149 mph) if you pay to get the optional AMG Driver’s Package.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
