An event already darkened by the very nasty story of the 2014 R1200RT recall and riding ban, the 2014 BMW Motorrad Days will not have one of its top attractions this year. Multiple stunt world champion and iconic rider Chris Pfeiffer will not be attending the most important BMW rally this year because of injuries he sustained during a motocross outing.
A regular entertainer for the Motorrad Days, Pfeiffer is missing this event for the first time. Still those attending the 2014 Motorrad days will not be left without thrilling stunt performances: Chris Pfeiffer has found the best replacement in the person of Irishman Mattie Griffin, a BMW rider just like him. Griffin will be riding a BMW F800R in Garmisch and promises that his show will live up to the trust Chris put in him.

“It’s a pity that Chris can’t perform at the BMW Motorrad Days, but his injuries are taking longer to heal than originally expected. Chris knows better than most that you’ve got to be 100 percent fit in order to perform stunts like this. He calls me regularly to tell me what to expect in Garmisch,” Mattie Griffin adds. At the same time, being able to perform in Garmisch during the BMW Motorrad Days is “a dream come true”. You can learn more about the mad Irishman following the Mattie Griffin Facebook page.

Another big name in the world of BMW riders who will be present at Garmisch is the Queen of Speed, the fastest American woman and drag racing star, Valerie Thompson. She was a part of the BMW Motorrad Days last year, as well, and she’s is very happy to visit Germany once more. Valerie Thompson has just bagged another land speed record at the Ohio Mile, where she rode her BMW S1000RR to a top speed of over 333 km/h (207 mph) in the Modified Class.

BMW’s new road racing star Michael Dunlop will also be at Garmisch on Saturday afternoon. Nephew to the one and only Joey Dunlop and winner of the second Supersport TT, Michael Dunlop also added three more victories to his name aboard an S100RR: the Superbike, Superstock and the mighty Senior TT, winning the TT Trophy which bears his uncle’s name for the second year in a row.

The 2014 BMW Motorrad Days will take place this very weekend, 4-6 July in the scenic resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, with a free-admission warm-up on Thursday July 3 at the BMW Museum in Munich. Oh, and Griffin will be there, too!
