Top-Priced Bentley Sold Since Day 1 in Shanghai

Bentley made a successful debut at this year's Shanghai Auto Show. Its top-priced model already sold out since the first day of the event, according to sina.com.

Out of all models in Bentley's Continental range, the Continental Flying Spur Speed brought 5.88 million yuan ($861,000) - according to gasgoo.com - to the British luxury sedan brand. We aren't aware if such astonishing price is correct, but we know that starts up from $240,000.

We cannot say that other two models (Continental GT Speed – which made its Asian debut last year in Beijing – and Continental GTC Speed) were less appreciated, but you probably agree with us thinking people's attraction towards newcomers.

"This auto show is very important. We have for the first time brought here all the products of our Continental series, and four precious cars that have never been shown in China," Bentley Global President Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn told China Daily.

Until now, Bentley found an open and willing-to-buy luxury cars market in China. We know for a fact that its Beijing dealer became one of the company's top ten, after recording sales higher than most rivals from US and Europe. After all, sales all over China show a 50% growth from one year to another.

The Beijing dealer is most likely to enter top five in Bentley's global sales this year, and the Flying Spur Speed  that sold since Day 1 of the auto fair in Shanghai can only confirm it. We can only agree with the buyer, since we took this specific model on a test-drive ourselves and it managed to receive the highest score of all our test-drives (85 points out of 100).

To understand why this was so is enough to tell you that Continental Flying Spur Speed is practically filled with technology. The 610 horsepower are transmitted to all four wheels all the time, there's an upgraded ESP version 8.1 to handle the wheel-spin in a sportier manner, while the four-corner self-leveling air suspension takes car of both comfort and dynamic qualities of the car.
