Volkswagen has just unveiled the prices of the 2009 Phaeton, with the basic variant of the luxury sedan available for 44,235 pounds.
The standard model comes with a 3.0-liter engine outputting a maximum power of 240 PS combined with a 6 speed tiptronic transmission. The exterior was customized with 17-inch alloy wheels, body-colored bumpers and protection strips, body-colored door mirrors with integrated indicators based on LEDs, chrome air intakes and radiator grille, front fog lights and galvanized body.
The interior features “Eucalyptus” wood trim on the dashboard with stainless steel pedals and wood and leather trimmed gear lever knob.
The amount of equipment installed on the new Phaeton is pretty remarkable, with cruise control, ABS, EBD and HBA installed as standard on the base model. The audio system works with a 8 channel amplifier with 10 speakers capable of developing 190 watts plus a CD autochanger and in-dashboard mounted analogue clock.
Miscellaneous features include heated front seats, heated windscreen washer jets, illuminated sun visor mirrors, parking sensors, rain sensor, power-assisted steering (speed sensitive), headlight cleaning system and electric windows on both the front and the rear.
Safety is one of the most important attributes of the new Phaeton with door side impact protection, electronic engine immobilizer and front and rear seat side impact airbags available as standard. Moreover, the new model includes a crash sensor which automatically unlocks the doors in case of accident plus disc-based brakes on both the front and the rear.
There are also several optional safety features available, including child seats and luggage nets priced between 60-170 pounds.
