Not only did Grupo Elektra’s Italika brand recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, but the company also announced it has established itself as the leading seller of motorcycles in Mexico, with a 55 percent market share.
Ricardo Salinas, President and Founder of Grupo Salinas, recently attended an event at Italika's assembly plant, which is located in Toluca, State of Mexico, where he congratulated the staff and encouraged the team to continue expanding into new markets.
The plant. inaugurated in September 2008, has an annual production capacity of 300,000 units. It is Mexico's largest motorcycle assembly plant. The 35,000 m2 plant produces the majority of the Italika motorcycles sold at Elektra stores and has the capacity to expand production volumes as demand increases.
“Over the past five years, 800,000 Italika motorcycles have been sold thanks to superior designs that meet customer needs, with optimum quality control, unparalleled support and service in more than 500 service centers, and an extensive inventory of original equipment parts at the 7,000 square meter central distribution warehouse,” a company statement reads.
“Grupo Elektra looks forward to providing continued efficient transportation options that improve productivity and living standards for a growing number of families with Italika products.”
According to Grupo Elektra, Italika motorcycles are put through strict safety and operational tests to ensure that they are top in the market. Italika sells 17 models, including scooters, motorcycles and ATVs, motorcycle and scooter parts and motorcycle accessories. The brand currently operates in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Peru, with expansion plans including Brazil.
