As of January, the global provider of streaming movies and TV series reported over 75 million subscribers worldwide. Amazon Prime, on the other hand, makes do with 46 million users around the world.
It’s no secret that Netflix is aware of the increasing popularity of Amazon Prime, which is why it has signed a deal of international distribution for the most widely watched factual TV show in the world.
Speaking to BuzzFeed, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirmed that the deal was sealed. As a brief refresher, Top Gear Series 23 is slated to air its first episode on May 8. The new format of the show will undoubtedly change after the departure of the magical trio. Instead of Clarkson, Hammond, and May, the show is now helmed by Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc, who are joined by Sabine Schmitz, Eddie Jordan, Chris Harris, Rory Reid, and an in-house tame racing driver. A terrific lineup, I'd say.
On the other side of the barricade are those three middle aged blokes who we all know and love. At the present moment, they need your help with finding a name for the still nameless Clarkson, Hammond and May car show on Amazon Prime. There’s no specific release date for the first episode, albeit the three amigos told us to look forward to it this fall. That’s a long time to wait, but it will be worth it.
