With Top Gear season 22 expected to start airing in January 2015, fans of the hit TV auto show are booing and hissing about the amount of time still to go until the Clarkson, Hammond and May trio will come back on telly. But fret not because the Stig has something to soothe the fevered brows of anxious Top Gear fans with the latest stunt he pulled off.
Cue this year's Top Gear Festival Durban in South Africa. A part of the the Top Gear Live circuit, the 2014 edition of the South African motoring event took place at the end of June at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Like any other TG live event, there was a lot to be enjoyed on this occasion: fast cars packing many horsepower, proper British humor, cool tricks on two and four wheels, the whole petrolhead's delight.

Even the Stig got his minutes of fame, but Top Gear has been keeping quiet how he arrived at the venue. Nevertheless, now we know how the mysterious racing driver wearing white overalls and a white Simpson Diamondback helmet with a smoked vizor got to the stadium. From the looks of it, the Stig waited patiently in Port Elizabeth for his ride to arrive by sea: Pastor Maldonado's Formula 1 car. Naturally, a racer such as this Lotus Renault E22 couldn't be driven on the public roads.

Even if it were to be a road legal vehicle, the Lotus Renault's ultra hard suspension would have crushed the Stig's titanium and kevlar alloy bones on the 900-kilometer drive from the port all the way to the Moses Mabhida Stadium. You already know what the Stig is going to do with the Lotus F1 Team's car, but that's enough of a spoiler alert. We don't want to ruin your watching experience, so we'll only mention that there's a little bit more than an F1 car hanging on a rope 300 feet above ground level. A dune buggy, an enduro motorcycle and a chrome-wrapped Ford Mustang are also on the menu.
