There are two types of gearheads out there - those who can afford their dreams and those who can build theirs from scrap. This 48-year-old mechanic you’re about to see here is part of the latter category, but even so, what he did could easily earn him the “Built not bought” first prize award.
Top Gear fanatic and amateur mechanic Jacek Mazur made his own McLaren F1 replica spending only about £20,000 to do so, which is at least 250 times less than what the real hypercar costs now.

It’s not the first time Mr. Jacek builds a replica, as he previously made more than three other supercars in 20 years of work, including a Lamborghini Countach and a Porsche 911.

Still, not a single one of his other creations can stand next to his latest - the McLaren F1 he built using skills, spare parts and the Internet. Where there’s a will, there’s a way and Jacek proved it.

You could easily mistake it for the real deal

You know how those other cheap replicas stab your eyes with distorted proportions, rough shapes, wrong interiors and panel gaps the size of the Grand Canyon? Well, you won’t see these on this one.

That’s because Jacek hasn’t simply landed a cheap fiberglass mold onto a Toyota MR2 or Pontiac Fiero. No, the man actually built the whole car, complete with a proper tubular space-frame chassis, pushrod suspension and a powerful engine. No word of what that could be, but it sounds like a V8.

Is the man proud of his creation? Simply put, he doesn’t really want the real McLaren F1 now.
