Top 10 Mercedes-Benz Cars in Video Games

Over the last decade or so, the video game industry has really boomed, creating niches that weren't thought possible before, thus opening the door for an entirely new way of marketing products, including cars.

Mercedes-Benz are one of the early adopters of this means of getting their cars in the hands of their fans and potential customers, with some of their models having appeared in video games as early as the 1990s.

The official Facebook of Mercedes-Benz put together ten of the most famous three-pointed star models to be featured in racing games over the last decade or so, which we are happy to pass on to you guys.

  • The Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow Concept was created for the LA Design Challenge in 2011 and it symbolizes how a Mercedes-Benz sports car from the future could look like. Despite the original 1:1 scale model being just a mock-up with no engine, its fans can drive it in the Asphalt 8 racing game on their tablets or smartphones.

  • We've experienced the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo for ourselves in GT6 on PlayStation 3, and boy is it an awesome drive. Created from the ground up to be featured in the latest installment of the Gran Turismo series, the virtual concept car uses the specifications of a real engine, which can also be found in the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG S-Model and the CLS 63 AMG S-Model.

  • It would be pretty hard to get behind the wheel of one of the few remaining Mercedes-Benz W125 grand prix cars out there. Fortunately, if you had an appropriate PC in 2003 and the Mercedes-Benz World Racing game you could also get to drive a virtual representation of the cigar-shaped racer from the golden years of the Silver Arrows.

  • The only way to drive a real Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG with police lights is to be a policeman in Dubai, but gamer fans could also be entitled to perform the PIT maneuver in police version of the modern Gullwing via the Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit game from 2010.

  • The Mercedes-Benz 190E (W201) is known as being the original “Baby Benz” until the A-Class was launched back in 1997. Last year, a Minecraft user named Sherlington recreated a giant 190E from more than 42,000 individual blocks in the pixelated game that everyone is raving about.

  • You would have to be a fully licensed driver in order to legally torment the tires and brakes of a five-ton, 1200 hp Mercedes-Benz Atego racing truck. That, or you could simply buy yourself a copy of the Mercedes-Benz Truck Racing game for PC and also benefit from a “Recover” button.

  • The Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR is the first ever licensed three-pointed star vehicle to be included in a racing game. We were just starting highschool when the CLK-GTR was winning our hearts in Need for Speed 3, being one of the fastest and coolest-looking cars in the game.

  • The first and arguably best racing simulator to feature the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG both on its cover and give it a major role in the in-game “AMG Driving School” was of course Gran Turismo 5, a rather old video game promoter of Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

  • The Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series is the three-pointed star vehicle with the most official appearances in racing video games, with no less than eleven PC, console and mobile games that feature the most powerful Mercedes-Benz in history.
