Tony Stewart Signs Multi-Year Deal with ExxonMobil

It must be great to be in Tony Stewart's shows right now, as the man has a week to remember. After winning the 4th Chase event of the 2010 Sprint Cup campaign at Fontata, last Sunday, Stewart found a co-primary sponsor for the 2011 series, in ExxonMobil.

The American multinational oil and gas corporation will be present on Stewart's car through its Mobil 1 brand starting next season as part of a multi-year contract signed earlier this week. This will not only secure Stewart's budget for the 2011 campaign, but also help him to continue fielding two cars in the Sprint Cup Series.

Of course, he'll still be on a lookout for sponsors in the months to come, but having such an important name join his organization is certainly a boost. ExxonMobil are no strangers from NASCAR action, as they used to sponsor Team Penske in the Sprint Cup Series. That contract is due to terminate at the end of this season.

We're in good shape on the #14 car now. This has fulfilled what we're looking for to fill the void for Old Spice next year,” said Stewart, whose major sponsor for 2010 Old Spice will not stay with the team next year.

It allows us to now put that project behind us. We're still always looking for new partners. You never stop in that category. (...) So the search [for sponsors] necessarily, isn't over. But this does fill the void from the Old Spice brand leaving at the end of the year.

According to the official announcement, Stewart's deal with ExxonMobil will extend to the former's other motor racing programmes, such as his teams in the USAC midgets and World of Outlaws series, as well as the Eldora Speedway competition he holds each year.
