Tony Hawk has just grabbed a new ride. Think about the skateboarder’s profile and you’ll see that his choice, a Mini John Cooper Works Countryman, came as a natural one.
Hawk posted the adjacent images on his Instagram account, asking fans to help him find a name for the crossover. The one that would come up with the best nick would win one of Hawk’s skateboards, which you can see in the photos.

The JCW Countryman is now called Maximillion, as a cap tipped to Gumball 3000 founder Max Cooper - the star had to browse through the 10,000 comments here received on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. By the way, he also offered skateboards to two runner-ups.

Hawk thanks MINI USA in his posts, so we expect the car was either a gift, or came with a hefty discount. Anyway, it’s interesting that the move coincides with the launch of the new 2014 MINI Cooper.

Speaking of choices, Hawk had to go for the most practical MINI, so we undestand whey he went for the Countryman. Alas, the JCW setup does bring a bit of a weird mix. Yes, this does bring goodies like 211 HP (218 PS) and beefy brakes, but it also includes a suspension that ruins the ride. Hmm... that kind of sounds like a skateboard. Perhaps he knew what he was doing after all.
