A TomTom research shows that it only takes 10 percent of those who use the service to create areal-time “collective effect”, allowing the traffic to flow more efficiently.
TomTom’s Traffic Manifesto highlights four main action areas that should accelerate mass adoption of smart route guidance systems, with the company vowing to collaborate with individuals, businesses, organizations and governments to reach its aforementioned goal.

1. TomTom will encourage and inspire people to play a role in reducing traffic congestion.
2. TomTom will increase the availability of TomTom HD Traffic.
3. TomTom will lead the continuous improvement of traffic and route guidance technology.
4. TomTom will bring together key traffic stakeholders to share ideas and drive actions forward.
TomTom plans to spread the initiative worldwide, with the introduction to Europe, which will take place later this year, being the first step.
