However, the TomTom automobile navigation systems manufacturer considered the list is too short, so the company whipped its marketing department to create a new link between the two. The sales guys also jumped in the boat and the result is a World Cup-related marketing campaign: TomTom will return the money for all supporters who buy a GO550, GO750 or GO950 in the run-up to the upcoming World Cup... if their country wins the final.
The campaign, which involves a total of 10 countries, has been debuted in the UK: “Go England! Now the qualification phase is over, TomTom has joined in with the summer world football celebrations by announcing a promotion especially for English supporters.”
"If England wins, participating fans will have even more reason to celebrate as they will essentially get our best device for free," said Damian Woodward, Vice President of sales and marketing at TomTom. "We're tapping into the excitement that this tournament typically generates, providing fans with a unique way to show faith in their team."
TomTom’s World Cup promotion will run for an eight-week period from April 15 to June 8, ending just before the tournament starts.
The promotion is available to TomTom customers in the following participating countries: Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa and Spain. So, who does TomTom root for?
