TomTom LINK Devices Launched

TomTom, one of the largest suppliers of navigation solutions in the world, announced this week the launch of two new remote control devices for TomTom LINK. The hardware is to be used by fleet operators to improve their cost effectiveness and fuel efficiency.

The first gadget launched by TomTom is the Remote LINK Working Time, a solution meant to give the operator of the fleet info about employee activity on the road (including starting time, pauses and stop of activity). Manual time sheets are eliminated with the use of this system, allowing each driver to record their working status by 'clicking' their ID key to the remote.

The information thus recorded is being sent back to the HQ of the company through the TomTom LINK.

The Remote LINK Logbook is to be used to register the miles driven by a company employee for his own interest, to allow accurate reporting for fleet vehicle usage. Individual and group mileage can be monitored by day, week, month or year, integrating the info with payroll and billing systems.

"The TomTom LINK system makes it easy for fleet managers to track and trace their company vehicles," said Michael Geffroy, vTomTom Business Solutions vice president.

"By adding Remote LINK devices to their WORKsmart fleet management systems, managers can gather valuable data about their employees' working hours and mileage, which they can use to boost productivity, increase efficiency and save money."

TomTom is selling these products as of now, with prices starting at $99 for each device and $49 for 10 ID keys to be used with the Working Time device.
