TomTom Lifetime Map Updates Available in North America

Navigation solutions provider TomTom announced yesterday the availability of the Lifetime Map Updates and Lifetime Traffic Updates, two features which will allow users to get both up-to-date maps, as well as real-time traffic information at no extra cost.

The Lifetime Map Updates downloads every few months the latest maps available. Its implementation was deemed necessary by TomTom as research has shown the road network changes on average 18 percent annually.

"The nation's roads are changing every day, so TomTom is proud to offer Lifetime Map Updates on our portable navigation devices," said Tom Murray, vice president of market development for TomTom."

The Lifetime Traffic Updates, working just like any other real-time traffic information tool, sending the driver info of the traffic ahead every three minutes. It coms with IQ Routes Technology and TomTom Map Share.

"This feature, in conjunction with TomTom's Lifetime Traffic Updates, offers our customers the assurance that they will always have the industry's most accurate maps and the real-time traffic information they need for hassle-free navigation."

Currently, TomTom is preparing to launch a new nav system meant to be as simple, cheap and, good as it can be. Called EASE, the nav system comes with integrated EasyPort mount and has become the most compact device in TomTom's lineup.

Available in two colors, black and white, EASE features improved EasyMenu user interface with two-icon touchscreen menu for quick access to search tools. It will become available this spring.
