Sidney Pollack's The Firm was a bit far from being his best work, but it was also arguably one of John Grisham's best novels and his first best seller.
One of the main differences between the movie and the book was the fact that the central character – played by Tom Cruise in the movie – receives a Mercedes-Benz instead of a BMW in one of the key points of the plot.
That Mercedes-Benz was a 300 CE Cabriolet (A124) and, believe it or not, the exact same car is now for sale on eBay. Well, one of the two identical cars used in the film, apparently.
“According to the letter from Mercedes, this car was used for the scene where Tom Cruise’s character Mitch McDeere and his wife first take the car for a drive with their dog. According to the letter from Mercedes, the dog did a small amount of damage to the interior in the rear seat. These scuffs are still present and can be seen in the pictures.” says the ad description.
In other words, you could own a piece of movie history and also one of Mercedes-Benz history, as the E-Class Cabriolet was on the last old-school models from the over-engineering era of the three-pointed star.
