Tom Brady is officially a Floridian now, having moved to St. Petersburg earlier this year when he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The high-profile move is just perfect for his latest charitable endeavor, which will land Floridians new specialty license plates.
Here’s one way to show your support for Tom Brady and/or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and do a good deed while at it. A limited-edition specialty plate will be available to residents of all Florida counties, and it will feature Brady’s face, as seen in the photo above.
The special plates are actually for charity, which makes this even more amazing. Brady is a long-time ambassador for the nonprofit Best Buddies International, which creates “opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).”
Best Buddies International proposed the specialty plates, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation approving them. They can now be pre-ordered for individual use or as vouchers for someone else, and they cost as little as $35. The nonprofit says that $25 of that amount will go directly to the nonprofit to use to further work on its four main pillars, one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for people with disabilities.
Once the 3,000 pre-order limit is reached, the specialty plates will head to distribution.
“Best Buddies is a fantastic organization with a great message to spread, and I am so proud to support their work,” Tom Brady says in a statement. “I hope my involvement as a Global Ambassador will continue to bring attention to the organization’s mission of friendship and inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.”
