Tokyo 2011: Toyota iQ-Based FT-EV III Concept

Toyota dropped a whole bunch of concept cars at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show and as per usual, they were all very green and very unexciting. One of these is the third generation of FT-EV, which stands for Future Toyota - Electric Vehicle).

The concept is obviously based on the little iQ city car and replaces the tiny petrol engine with an electric motor and battery system. The range should be limited to just over 100 km or 65 miles to be more precise.

Toyota has been coming up with these iQ-based concepts since 2009, but this is probably the last, as a production version is supposed to arrive next year. Interestingly enough, the FT-EV III’s interior is just like a normal car’s and it even has the gear stick of an automatic.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
