The Toyobaru project has been one of the most anticipated cars in the last few years and we’ve now finally got to meet the beast in metal on Tokyo’s floor.
We have to tell you that the vehicle looks better in person than it does in photos, but we’re still not please with the fact that the BRZ and the Toyota GT 86 are so similar. However, you can never bee too bothered when you’ve got rear-wheel-drive, a limited slip differential, a six-speed manual and 200 hp pushing 1,220 kg (2,689 lbs) around.
It will be interesting to see how the Toyobaru family (the Toyota GT 86, Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S) will compete with hot hatches, a breed that has evolved faster than any other performance segment on the market and is now ready to take on sports cars like these three.
