Boy, this is a familiar sight, the Toffee Brown GTI owned by the Vossen Wheels creative director. It's had a rough life, getting rear-ended early on, but the 3-door hatch has never looked better, thanks to a new set of Vossen forged alloy wheels.
But first, the old girl is looking dirty, covered in sand and salt. Better give her a through scrub and record the process for posterity.
Vossen wheel design has changed a lot in the past year. They were originally just into a simple multi-spoke look that would fit anything from a Lexus to a Porsche. The GTI used to ride on Vossen’s CV4 in Matte Graphite.
But then the 2015 edition of SEMA happened, and Vossen debuted the LC Series. Nicknamed the “Lip Concept” series, the LC lineup began as a simple exercise in the capabilities of our monoblock forgings. Simply put, they wanted the lip and modularity of 3-piece alloys without having to put up with 30 or more individual screws.
Of course, the design was perfect for the Bavarian-style tune, and many customers jumped onto the Lip Concept bandwagon.
This car isn't all show and no go. The 2-liter turbo engine has received an APR Stage 1 ECU update. Running on 93 octane fuel, the Golf now delivers 316 horsepower and 381 Nm of torque. APR also included a new air bog that lifts the output even further, to 336 horsepower.
A lowered stance does much for the appearance of the GTI. Before you ask, we'll tell you that the Toffee Brown paint is a wrap. Toffee Brown is available on many Volkswagens, but not the Golf GTI. Why doesn't VW like hot chocolate?
Anyway, there are subtle touches everywhere, from Euro lights to the shaved off the rear badge. You've got to admire a person who dumps so much money into a GTI and still keeps it clean.
