Bourdais recently asked for Toro Rosso to make up their minds on keeping or losing him for the 2009 season, as he has recently received several offers from outside the sport. He also warned the Scuderia that he will eventually have to take responsibility and answer those requests unless the team doesn't let him know on their plans for the upcoming season.
“I am concerned about the other proposals I have received from outside of F1 and that soon they will need my answer. A time will come when I will have to take the responsibility,” said Bourdais earlier yesterday. The Frenchman is linked with a move back to the North American racing series – most likely the unified IndyCar Series – although a future destination is yet to be decided.
Bourdais managed to upper his game in the last couple of race – Fuji and Shanghai – managing to better both his qualifying performances (forcing his way into Q3) and his race finish (6th place at Fuji). Unfortunately for the 29-year old Frenchman, none of these performances ended with points up on the scoreboard. Despite finishing 6th in Japan, Bourdais was demoted to 10th overall after a penalty handed by race officials after the race had ended.
