Tito Ortiz Crashes into Djimon Hounsou in Toyota Pro/Celebrity Practice Run

Celebrities are currently getting ready for the upcoming Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race set to take place on April 16, in identically prepared, race-ready Scion tCs. Among them, former UFC Champ Tito Ortiz and “Blood Diamond” star Djimon Hounsou.

During a practice run recently, Ortiz managed to somehow severely damage his Scion, TMZ reports. The first impact happened when he drove the car into a sidewall and then hit the rear bumper of another car that was driven by Hounsou.

However, it seems that neither one of them was hurt, which means they only have to get their Scions ready in race-condition again and they can line-up at the annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach later this month.

Las Vegas handicapper Anthony Curtis is one of the world’s most recognized and quoted gambling authorities, and has been handicapping the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race for many years.

“Though an amateur racer, we shouldn’t forget that Ortiz is a professional athlete. Don’t underestimate the power of a truly competitive spirit in the heat of battle,” Curtis says about Ortiz. “Another star who is a huge racing fan, Hounsou drives fast cars even off the track. Plus, he drove stunningly well in the rain. Look out for him if race day is a wet one,” he adds, referring to Hounsou.

Other celebrities include BRian AUstin Green, William Fitchner, Anthony Anderson, Jillian Barberie Reynolds, Tyson Beckford, Eddie Cibrian, Kim Coates, Kevin Eubanks, Dennis Haysbert, Kevin Jonas, Stephen Moyer, Megyn Price, and Kimora Lee Simmons.

Toyota will donate $5,000 to Racing for Kids in the name of each celebrity racer and another $5,000 to the winning racer’s charity of choice.
