Having warm tires at the start of a friendly weekend track day is helping a lot, as you can actually ride your bike really hard right from the first lap, not having to wait for the rubber to heat up from the friction against asphalt.
However, it's well worth remembering to take the warmers off the bike prior to entering the circuit, as they are a very poor substitute for a proper bike tire. The guy in this video was really lucky he didn't accelerate harder: he managed to save the day, sparing his bike and his ego some unnecessary damage.
Watching this video made us think about the anti-theft locks installed in the front brake rotors, and how bad forgetting about them and trying to ride away is... All in all, he's the lucky guy of the day.
