With hundreds of thousands of wristwatch models and designs, some might say that things tend to become boring at times. That may be so, if you’re only looking for sheer functionality, but if you are ready to take a walk on the wild side, here’s Timeburner, a motorcycle-themed watch like you’ve never seen before.
Timeburner is a creation of Miki Eleta and Marc Jenni, a clockmaker and kinetic artist and a skilled watchmaker, respectively. In a way, Timeburner is a dream come true for Eleta, because it is homage to an 1950 BMW motorbike he dreamt of owning while he was a child.
The intriguing design recreates the soul of the BMW bike as Eleta envisaged it would look like transposed into a watch. The movement is Unitas cal. 6497-1 modified by Marc Jenni, and has a power reserve of 46 hours. The case is stainless steel with 3 sapphire crystals, while the bezel and crown are made from untreated bronze and will get a natural patina. Timeburner is finished in bead blast, and comes with an uniquely numbered “license plate”.
On the inside, the “engine” is rhodium plated with the black indicator on the piston telling the time. The Timeburner can be ordered in three finishes, one silver plated and two chrome plated, one all-black. Crafted in brused steel and ceramic, waterproof to 150 meters (450ft), the Tudor Fastrider chronograph also come with a self-winding mechanism which offers 46 hours of power reserve and an easily-adjustable calendar function.
No price was mentioned for these new Tudor creations, but it’s likely that your Ducati dealer could enlighten you when you go pick your newly-ordered Scrambler and apparel or accessories to go with it. We’re sort of hooked on the simple and sober looks of the Fastrider, really.
