Three Tampa Teens Try to Steal Police Car with Cops Inside

Being a silly teenager is no excuse to avoid the rule of law. Come on, let's be serious: how stupid or doped could you be to attempt to steal an undercover police car with the officers still inside? Tough question for the three teenagers who tried to do the exact thing (more exactly stealing a Dodge Stratus), on late Monday night, in Tampa, Florida.

According to the Tampa police report, the Officers Colin McCoy and Gary Saunders were patrolling the area when they saw the teens looking into parked cars near Columbus Drive and Oakdale Avenue. Since the situation looked rather fishy, they followed the youngsters in their unmarked  police car to the area near Columbus and Rome Avenue, quietly pulled over into a parking area and waited to see what they were up to.

Finally, armed with screwdrivers, a flashlight and a piece of concrete, the three little thugs set their eyes on no other than the uncovered police car. When it was really clear what the teens had in their minds, the officers got out of the cars and tried to apprehend the thieves.

However, in spite of the officers' vigilance, they managed to capture only two of the three, the third one getting away.

At first sight, it might seem like an act of vandalism but later asked what the teens'  real intention was, they confessed they intended to steal the car and that they had no idea it was a police vehicle.

But the intention is also punished so the juvenile delinquents, ages 15 and 17, are charged with possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest without violence. Lucky for them they didn't manage to actually steal the vehicle...
