Three-Door Lexus NX Gets Rendered

Why? Because it will be awesome. The Toyota RAV4 on which the Lexus NX is based was also offered in a three-door version, which got dropped along with the launch of the third generation.

It would have been nice to revive the body version now in its fourth generation because that’s what the RAV4 was meant to be - a compact, fun to drive and able to handle some rough terrain from time to time car.

Moreover, the Range Rover Evoque comes in a three-door version which looks amazing. Yeah, we know the Evoque is not quite in the same class with the upcoming NX, but looking how nice it looks we can imagine the NX would look even better in a three-door skin.

And if imagination isn’t your strong point, these renderings here will prove it. Ditch the rear doors and make the front ones slightly longer and you end up with one of the coolest mini SUVs ever.

It may even feel sportier because of the extra body rigidity gained by not having two extra holes cut on the sides. Which can be further enhanced by using the all new turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder engine Lexus just developed and doesn’t want to share its specs with us until the big unveil at Beijing.
