The BMW 2 Series was the highest ranked small premium car while the 4 Series did the same in the compact premium car segment with the 5 Series following suit in the midsize premium car niche. To top everything off, the BMW 7 Series was extremely close to the number one spot in its segment, saying a lot about a car that is 7 years old.

Overall, the BMW Brand was ranked sixth overall, well above the industry average, with 99 PP100, a 9-point improvement compared to 2014. PP100 is the standard used by JD Power to measure problems per 100 vehicles. To get a better glimpse of how the BMW brand stands within the industry, you should know that the average is 112 PP100.

“IQS is the leading indicator of customer delight in the initial phase of ownership as it measures not only how well our vehicles perform but also how well our dealers are doing in demonstrating the functions of the new vehicle,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “The model rankings show improvements across the board from existing to new models with the clear challenge being to improve and simplify technology.”

To get reliable results, JD Power used responses from 84,000 owners (or lessees) of 2015 model-year cars after 90 days of ownership. The test was conducted between February and May 2015.
