With the official debut of the 2014 Corvette Stingray having just taken place in Detroit a couple of years ago, you'd think the next big thing in American sportscars would be ready. But, in fact, the cars shown there and at Barrett-Jackson were hand built demonstrators.
Production of the Corvette will only take place late this year, and before that, GM engineers have to test out every component on the car to make sure it's solid and reliable. After all, we wouldn't want the pride and joy of American engineering to have to be recalled within a week of launch.
Three pre-production prototypes for the Corvette Stingray have been spotted out in the open by members of the Corvette7 forum. When we saw this footage, we immediately recognized two of the cars as being the ones we showed you this weekend.
As you can see, the black and the blue have the optional Z51 aero package with bigger wheels and added kit, while the red is a standard model.
