The E46 BMW M3 has now reached that sweet spot where it's old enough to allow fanatics to use it as a base for amazing project cars. And one extreme example of the results that can be achieved when following such a path comes from Georgia, where an owner of such an M car decided to go for a monstrous engine swap.
To be more precise, the Georgian M3 we're talking about is now animated by a Viper engine. Surprisingly, the 8.3-liter behemoth doesn't even sit all that close to the nose of the thing.
Now, this unit should be good for around 500 ponies in naturally aspirated form, but we could be dealing with a twin-turbo build, which could easily take things north of the 1,000 hp border.
As for the drivability of the thing... it doesn't make too much sense to discuss the implications of maneuvering such a contraption on the street. Nevertheless, you'll get to see the driver of the Viper-ized Bimmer exiting a garage in the first piece of footage below and we have to warn you that the maneuver seems tiring enough to consume a viewer's patience.
However, as it usually happens with such cars, the giggles one gets when the throttle gets welded to the floor are worth the investment, as well as the tight space maneuvering compromise.
The once-a-straight-six-machine has also had a visual makeover, with the beast now wearing a widebody kit supplied by Rocket Bunny. We have to admit that the hue of the Bimmer also allows it to stand out, as we're dealing with a shade of matte green that could allow this M3 to qualify for the "military" tag. Nevertheless, we're not quite sure about army vehicles being supposed to use gold wheels.
We've also brought along a second clip, one that shows an earlier stage of the build, with this allowing us to check out the Viper-borrowed dashboard instruments of the V10 brute.
