One of the most innovative products released by Finis, a Livermore-based swimming equipment company, is a waterproof MP3 player that provides the highest quality sound in the water without the use of ear buds. Called Neptune, the device uses a revolutionary Bone Conduction audio transmission to produce crystal clear audio through the cheekbone directly into the inner ear.
Designed to help swimmers enjoy their exercise without disturbing performance, the MP3 player comes with 4GB of storage. The 3-piece design has 2 side speakers and a high contrast OLED screen that sits comfortably on the back of the head. The screen shows the song, artist and play status for each use. Neptune was designed to be attached securely to goggle straps and to rest on the cheekbones as to not interfere with swimming technique.

Why are we telling you about this MP3 player? Well, it’s as cool as it is strange, so we thought you’ll actually find it interesting, maybe one day even buy it. Just imagine, you’re doing some proper vacation time at the beach. The sunset is almost over, just in time for a last bath under the vanilla sky. You put on those 007 goggles you love so much, click the play button on the Neptune player and listen to The Beach Boys’ Good Vibrations legendary song while diving.

Anyway, Neptune is powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery which lasts over 8 hours per charge and is waterproof to 10 ft (3 m). What's probably the coolest part of this device is that the sound is clearest when submerged in water.

Looking at this MP3 player, the only natural question left to ask is how long it will take until the guys over at Google will design the waterproof version of their Glass...
