In case you’re wondering what’s this abomination, we do understand you as the most famous Toyota off-roader was the FJ40. The 55 Series was meant to transform the rugged ol’ Jeep counterpart into something more family-friendly.
It was made between 1967 - 1980, being offered with two inline-six engines : a 3.9- and a 4.2-liter, mated with either a 3- or 4-speed transmissions. The designers tried to keep some of the FJ40's rugged appearance, but they ended up with a bizarre shape at the front, determining people to call it the “Moose”, pig or even the iron pig.

Call it what you want, but the car is a survivor and having one now will turn some heads due to it’s unusual appearance. It is one of those few Toyota models that can do this.

Luckily enough, there is one for sale now in West Seattle and you’ll be surprised the owner only asks for 3,100 bucks for it. He says it was a family car for all its life and the odometer only says it has around 54,000 miles. But that’s because at some point, the stock engine got swapped for a small block Chevy V8 unit.

It has some rust "spots" here and there, but the oldschool body-on-frame construction should go for at least another 100,000 miles. The guy says it “runs great and looks good”, the reason for selling it being the fact they moved towards other cars and no one in the family drives it anymore.
