Early Corvettes are heaven-sent for the tuning industry. Year on end, cars of decades ago are brought back to life by garages across the U.S. to be displayed at auto shows or sold at auctions. In most cases we are talking about restorations, as the resale value of a stock 1960s Corvette is definitely worth the effort.
There are some that venture one step further, though, and aside from a makeover, some Corvettes receive a number of upgrades as well. Like this 1967 model in the gallery above, designed by American Speed Shop from Bloomington, Indiana, and currently on the lot of cars that will go under the hammer during the Mecum Eddie Vannoy collection sale in June 2020.

Officially, this Vette is a resto mod, and it is certainly worth the name. The still mostly classic body of the car rides on a custom tube steel chassis. On it, the garage fitted the front suspension from a Corvette C6, and the rear one from a Corvette C5. This configuration gives the vehicle a lowered look, slightly tilted to the front by one degree.

Under the hood of the car sits a Chevy LS3 V8 good for 525 hp and tied to a 5-speed manual transmission. Stopping power is ensured by Corvette Z06 brakes, and the whole thing rides on staggered 18- and 19-inch wheels wrapped in Toyo redline tires.

The car is painted in Silver Pearl on the outside, with a touch of black on the hood stinger, while the inside comes in Mercedes-Benz tan. Vintage air conditioning, a retro-looking AM/FM stereo and power windows, are also on deck for the owner’s convenience.

The car is listed for the auction to sell with no reserve, meaning it will go to the highest bidder no matter the price. The auction house did not provide an estimate as to how much it is expected to fetch.
