The wait may finally be over, as the all-new ZL1 based on the 6th generation Chevy Camaro is just around the corner. The automaker released a short and sweet teaser video where the V8 engine is allowed to let rip from under the hood.
We may be a little full of ourselves for being sure this is the ZL1 based on some noise. But Chevy is making it easy by letting us hear the supercharger. Even if that weren't the case, an automatic is taking care of the gears, so it's not the Z/28 for sure.

The grille also backs us up. In the teaser video, it looks like an ordinary design, but if you look at the second video that we are providing you with, it becomes an obvious design trademark.

Everybody expects the ZL1 to be powered by the supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 puncher used by the Corvette Z06 and CTS-V. The previous generation used a 580 horsepower version of the LSA, so we should expect at least that much power. However, we would be cautious not to expect the full 650 horsepower of the 'Vette.

Let's not forget that this mighty supercharged V8 will be combined with the new Camaro's stiff and light Alpha platform. With "just" 455 horsepower available, the regular SS model reaches 60 in 4 seconds and does the quarter mile in 12.3s. Frankly, if we were the Jaguar F-Type, we'd have a few sleepless nights.

After all, the old ZL1 wasn't just fast in a straight line, as it managed to get round the Nurburgring in 7:41:27. If you don't believe us the new one will be even faster, just watch the video below!

The LT4 will probably be linked to an 8-speed 8L90 optional automatic or the standard TR6070 six-speed manual. Magnetic Ride Control should be offered, as well as a full body kit to get rid of the body lift. Both coupe and convertible versions of the 2017 ZL1 will be offered, but the roofless people may have to wait until the end of this year.
