Yes, the images we have here are probably vaporware (you know, renderings that will never make it past this stage), but the concept behind them certainly isn't. And that's because we're talking about a kit car built on the C8 Chevrolet Corvette.
With its sub-$60k starting price, the mid-engined 'Vette is a game changer. And what happens when you can grab a platform with supercar looks for sportscar money? People will eventually build on top of it.

Now, here's to hoping that old or crashed C8 Corvettes won't have the faith of another GM toy, namely the Pontiac Fiero, which has become America's favorite choice in terms of Italian exotic replica base.

Instead, let's think of a brighter future for the mid-engined Chevy - certain aficionados will want to be different and the tuning market should take advantage of this, which is why we'll probably get to see proposals such as the one protrayed in these renderings becoming reality.

And, as long as these are done tastefully and steer clear of trying to be something they're not, everybody should be happy.

Meanwhile, social media seems to have another, more pragmatic plan for the C8 Corvette. To be more precise, aftermarket aficionados look at the machine and see... 1,000 hp for $100,000.

The idea is to gift the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette with a pair of turbos (or perhaps other power adders) and make the said figures come together.

Of course, a thousand ponies come with a thousand responsibilities and there's to hoping this potential power avalanche won't lead to trouble on the street.

Then again, Chevrolet will give us its own pumped-up Corvettes. You know, traditional derivatives such as the Grand Sport, the Z06, and, of course, the ZR1 (the links lead to renders portraying the said go-faster models).

In fact, the wildest rumors that showed up before the official unveiling of the C8 talked about the range-topper using hybrid tech to deliver 1,000 hp (everybody likes nicely rounded numbers) to all four corners.
