There aren't a lot of gadgets in this world that really blow your mind when it comes to their design, but MB&F's latest creation might just do that. The Swiss exclusive watch manufacturer has once again created a unique work of art, only this time we’re looking at a spaceship-like design resonance soundboard that actually plays Star Trek's theme song.
In case you missed it, we’ll begin our little adventure talking about the company’s incredible timepiece, before switching to the actual subject, which is the music machine. Called Horological Machine No.4 Thunderbolt, the incredible time piece features two perpendicular dials respectively indicating hours/minutes and power reserve set in a futuristic case resembling two jet turbine pods. Thunderbolt was awarded the prize for best Concept and Design Watch Concept at the 2010 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve.

Good, now we know who we’re dealing with here.

Called MusicMachine 2, the new music box comes with a stunning spaceship-like design, rock and sci-fi melodies and innovative resonance. Underneath its futuristic disguise, MM2 features all the traditional elements of a beautifully-crafted, high-end music box made by Reuge and designed by MB&F.

Just so you know, Reuge comes with nearly 150 years of expertise and experience and is allegedly the only premier producer of music boxes in the world today.

So, the innovative music machine is powered by two independent movements mounted on the starship’s tail section. Its songs have been selected by their rock ’n’ roll founder and sci-fi fan Maximilian Busser. Each cylinder plays three melodies. The left rings themes from Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Star Trek. The righ one gigs Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven, The Rolling Stones’ Angie and The Clash’s Should I Stay or Should I Go?

As you’d probably imagined already, these babies won’t come cheap, nor in big numbers. To be more precise, MB&F says they’ll make 66 black pieces and 33 white pieces, with each priced at $21,500.
