This Snakeskin Green 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS Flexes LS V8 Muscle

Restomodding ranges from mild to wild, and this Camaro SS finds itself somewhere in the upper half of the spectrum thanks to DuPont Snakeskin Green paintwork complemented by Metallic Charcoal up front and on the sides. The convertible pony has also received a modern powerplant in the guise of a small-block V8 sourced from a Pontiac G8 sports sedan.

Codenamed L76 and based on the LS2, the 6.0-liter motor features an aluminum block, COMP pushrods, Livernois Motorsports springs and camshaft, L92 heads, and a performance air filter connected to a 90-millimeter throttle body. Add a beefy radiator and a baffled oil pan, and you’re looking at 410 rear-wheel horsepower.

Torque isn’t shabby either at 379 pound-feet (514 Nm), and the six-speed automatic transmission has been taken off the Pontiac G8 as well. The donor vehicle reportedly had 3,000 miles on the clock, which means that both the engine and the Hydra-Matic 6L80 are relatively new. The one-off Camaro SS before your eyes, which is based on a 1968 model, has been driven “roughly 200 miles” since completion.

Coated in satin black, the undercarriage is where you’ll find a 9.0-inch axle rocking 3.54 gears. The Heidts Pro-G front clip with tubular control arms, 2.0-inch drop spindles, and a 1.0-inch sway bar is complemented by QA-1 coilovers. Further back, the Heidts four-link suspension is paired to a Panhard bar and two more coilovers.

Xlerator mufflers between an H-shaped crossover and polished tips help the eight-cylinder engine sing the song of its people, and all of that suck-squeeze-bang-blow spins super-sticky Nitto NT05 tires. Behind those beautiful custom wheels from Boze, you’ll find Wilwood brake calipers that clamp 12- and 14-inch drilled brake rotors.

The interior is just as interesting as the rest of the vehicle, starting with Lexus buckets wrapped in high-quality leather. The dashboard boasts Dakota Digital VHX gauges, RetroSound audio, Infinity speakers, and Vintage Air climate control. The finishing touch? A horseshoe-style shifter, wool carpeting around the billet pedals, and a Haartz top sum up this rather tasteful pony car.

Offered by RK Motors Charlotte, the asking price is… wait for it… $129,900.
