A young team of skating and snowboarding enthusiasts from San Francisco have designed what could be the ground-breaking toy to make the winter sport possible all year long. With its innovative design, the six-wheels board looks like a classic skateboard but does a lot more, sliding and mimicking the side-to-side motion of riding a snowboard.
It was designed by the same people who now ride it all day long, comes with a innovative design and once you get the grip of it will make you have the best skating you ever had.

The Freeboard is a 6-wheeled skateboard that has been outfitted with a pair of central axis wheels that turn in every direction. This allows the skater to literally slide on the board, making a similar side-by-side motion you’d do on a snowboard. And to make everything stable, it also features a pair of S2 bindings that help the board stay attached to the riders feet while getting airborne.

“So every snowboarder is walking around their neighborhood, and every street is now a snowboard run, whether it’s that mellow run on that side of town, or that steep black diamond on this side of town. They’re riding in the summer, they’re riding in the winter, they’re riding all year long,” founder of Freeboard, Steen Strand, explains on their website.

According to its creators, every aspect of a Freeboard is custom designed and hand assembled right in their San Francisco shop. It comes with a custom reinforced deck, revolutionary G3 Trucks and of course the S2 bindings that redefine control of the board.

The board’s truck is very similar to a traditional skateboard one with a hanger and a baseplate but with one major addition, a 360 degree pivoting center wheel that takes care of most of the motion. The center wheel creates “rocker” which allows you to transfer weight to the edge wheels and turn just like a snowboard.

Riding this baby looks easy, but it’s not. It is after all snowboarding on pavement, so people need to practice a bit first, before hitting the super fast slide. However, the creators of the board have uploaded a video guide for customers to learn how to ride the Freeboard, on their website, so it should be a matter of weeks before new customers should go wild with it.
