This Secret Warplane Graveyard in Ohio Is Pretty Cool

If there is one thing we love more than checking out cars it's looking for new places that we could take road trips to. And that is exactly what this place hidden in the woods stands for. Located near Newbury, Ohio, the Warplane Graveyard is filled with WWII airplane pieces, including a B-25, BT-15 and even a Goodyear FG-1D. Few people ever get the chance to go there, which makes this sound like a Sherlock Homes type of adventure... The guys over at Roadtrippers recently visited the place and got the chance to take a couple of photographs of the aircraft collection, as they have been put there between the trees. It's filled with WWII airplanes

It’s the creation of a scrapyard worker named Walter Soplata who decided he couldn’t just scrap all these legendary pieces of old machinery that once flew the sky during War World II, over half a century ago. Instead, he bought some land and started collecting them. Years have passed and the whole place turned into quite the museum.

Even though the man passed away, his family has taken care of the place ever since and they continue to protect the graveyard. As far as we can tell, it’s not very easy to get inside, but we figure it could one day make for a really good story, considering the collection includes a B-25, a BT-15 and a Goodyear FG-1D among others.

The warplane graveyard might not be as cool as the Ukrainian site that holds over 400 abandoned tanks, nor is it as fancy as that Czech private army museum, but we’d totally go for it.
