It goes without saying the first-year Charger has thus become a gem so many people would love having, though on the other hand, finding one in tip-top shape is rather impossible if you’re not willing to spend a small fortune for it.

The more affordable way to make this dream come true is with a project car which you can restore yourself either to bring the Charger back to factory specifications or with custom upgrades for a personalized restomod.

The 1966 model we have here certainly qualifies for this mission, as the car is mostly original, with the 383-ci (6.2-liter) engine inside also believed to be the one installed by Dodge so many years ago. But let’s start with the paint.

The owner says they’re not sure if it’s original or not, as the Charger originally belonged to someone else who wanted to restore it. But there are signs the car already received a repaint at some point.

This car was bought by a gentleman so that he could fully restore the car after he finished his 1971 Charger R/T restoration. The gentleman never got to start on this ‘66 Charger nor did he finish his 71 due to passing away at the start of this year. I ended up buying 3 cars from the family in total,” they say.

"I cannot tell if this is the original blue paint on the car or not, I do know that the engine bay of the car was painted a darker blue some time way back, but you can still see the light blue under it in some spots.

The body doesn’t look that bad, and aside from a few spots of rust here and there, you should theoretically bring it back to the road rather easily. The interior looks like it’d need plenty of fixes, but the good news is that everything appears to be there, so no important part is missing. Still, there’s no doubt whoever wants to restore the car will have a lot of work to do, and the photos in the gallery pretty much speak for themselves.

The Charger is now listed for sale on eBay as part of an online auction, and the highest bid right now is a little over $3,000. The reserve, however, hasn’t been met just yet.
