In case you haven’t been living under a carbon fiber rock or something, you know that opening the engine cover on a Porsche 911 nowadays won’t actually reveal the flat six at the back. Still, the 911 Cabriolet in the adjacent image takes things to a whole new level, exhibiting a light show under the hood. Well, that’s because this isn’t exactly a Porsche.
What we have here is a Nissan 350Z, a car that became known as the Pana-Z. This weird creature hit the SEMA show back in 2011, being created by a guy named Shinichi Kameda, who is in the auto business.

The man claims his aim was to come up with “The Only One”, a two-door open-top version of the Panamera, so he fitted a Fairlady Z with Porsche Panamera front and rear fascias, also performing a ton of other custom jobs on the car.

The job took about one year and you can see the result in the images below. Nonetheless, it appears that the project has taken a little turn, ending up with 991 911 rear lights. The interior also got quite a revamp, going from White to Pink and receiving an even kitschier steering wheel. We don’t even want to know how this piece of overkill should be called now.

For us, the car’s shiny lights are only surpassed by the tons of regrets we have towards this story. First of all, we don’t like seeing Porsche components being put to such use. Secondly, a lot of work has been waster on this car. From the HKS supercharger to the custom wings, all these bits and pieces could’ve beautifully gifted some splendid JDM machine.

Oh well, some say that the Nissan Z has always tried to impersonate Porsche’s 911, so perhaps we shouldn’t be all that freaked out about this project. But we are!
