Belgium’s revered experts never cease to impress us with their magnificent pieces of two-wheeled artwork.
When it comes to graceful cafe racer conversions, the Belgian moto specialists over at Barn Built Bikes are the real MVPs. As time went by, we’ve had the pleasure to take a look at the workshop’s extensive portfolio on several occasions. Needless to say, we were left awestruck by their two-wheeled masterpieces every single damn time!

Today, we’ll be having a quick look at the team’s accomplishments on a 1991 model in Kawasaki’s fierce Zephyr 750 range. The donor for this project is powered by an air-cooled DOHC inline-four beast that prides itself with a healthy displacement of 739 cc. At 9,500 rpm, this unit will summon up to 71 hp, while a respectable torque output of 46 pound-feet (63 Nm) is supplied at around 7,300 rpm.

A five-speed transmission is tasked with enabling the engine’s force to reach the rear 17-inch wheel via a chain final drive. This whole shebang leads to a generous top speed of 125 mph (201 kph). Long story short, the Zephyr 750 was far ahead of its time, to say the least.

BBB’s aftermarket artists kicked things off by fabricating a new loop-style subframe, which supports the bike’s modified tail section and a tan leather saddle upholstered by JVS. The following step consisted of tweaking the front and rear fenders to achieve a clutter-free aesthetic, while the airbox was discarded to make way for a set of pod filters.

Furthermore, the crew raided LSL’s beloved catalog to obtain new LED lighting components to replace the standard counterparts. You will find rear-mounted footpegs and a pair of clip-on handlebars wearing bar-end mirrors, as well as a Motogadget gauge adorning the machine’s cockpit. To ensure that the end result is as neat as possible, the Zephyr’s electrical modules have been nestled inside its tail, where a state-of-the art lithium-ion battery was also incorporated.

The finishing touch comes in the form of a two-tone color scheme that keeps it classy. All things considered, it's quite safe to say that Barn Built’s painstaking efforts have paid off.
