The tiny house movement started out as a minimalist revolution as people sought to simplify their lives and break free from the excesses of modern living. In the beginning, tiny homes were basically do-it-yourself small buildings equipped with just the bare necessities, but over the years, manufacturers discovered there was plenty of space for experimentation in the realm of tiny house design.
Today, tiny homes come in all shapes and sizes and can meet a diverse range of tastes and preferences, from rustic and minimalist to ultra-modern and packed with luxury features. And some of them are so incredibly well built that could even compete with conventional homes.

The Columbia tiny house on wheels presented here is a versatile model that offers a balanced mix of comfort and style and would fit just well both in an urban environment and in the middle of nature. This micro-home is just 24 feet long and 8.5 feet wide, but you'll be surprised how many modern features the designers managed to squeeze inside.

The Columbia is the creation of Tree Hugger Tiny Homes, a builder located in Alberta, Canada, that specializes in custom designs focused on safety, quality, and sustainability. Founded in 2019, the company aims to provide people who want to downsize, reduce their carbon footprint, and live more sustainably with "the highest quality homes and innovative designs in the tiny house market."

Whether you choose tiny home living as a full-time housing solution or as a recreational home, this model offers flexibility and freedom. It is perched on a double-axle trailer and stays within road-legal measurements, meaning it offers owners the perk of mobility and would be a good choice for travel lovers or those who want to relocate often.

Like most tiny houses nowadays, the Columbia model is designed as a cozy haven that lets dwellers live more closely to nature, but it looks and feels totally urban. It features an ultra-modern exterior that combines an eye-catching Heron Blue steel siding with cedar accents and a Copper Penny steel roof. Elegant white trimming around the windows and the entrance door adds timeless appeal to the design.

The 292-square-foot interior showcases good space optimization, and despite the limited real estate, it integrates all the amenities you would normally find in a traditional house, including a dedicated dining spot and a washer/dryer unit.

The living space is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. Engineered maple hardwood floors ensure durability, while the fine tongue and groove pine walls and ceiling are finished in white, creating a bright and tasteful atmosphere. The layout is nothing revolutionary but is well-thought-out to include a snug lounge, a full kitchen, a dining bar, a modern bathroom, and a spacious sleeping loft.

The compact lounge is the first thing that welcomes you as you step inside. With windows all around, this snug area of the house is bathed in natural light, enhancing the connection with the outdoors. To add more functionality to the lounge, the designers added a small fold-up table next to the sofa to be used as a workstation.

Right next to the entrance door, a sleek entryway locker offers coat hooks and shoe storage. It is designed to match the custom staircase with built-in laundry and ample storage that leads to the only bedroom inside this home.

The elevated sleeping area makes efficient use of ceiling heights, allowing for a generous open-plan area downstairs that can be fully enjoyed for everyday activities. Apart from a queen-size mattress, the bedroom also houses a couple of nightstands and custom storage with drawers and shelves. Two large windows and two skylights inundated the bedroom with natural light during the day and optimize ventilation.

Going back downstairs, the stunning black and white kitchen is surprisingly large and well-equipped. Fitted with custom-built solid wood cabinets with soft-close hardware, quartz countertops, and a slew of full-size appliances, the kitchen is one of the elements that make this home so modern and comfortable. A farmhouse sink, a gas stove, a large sink, a full-size refrigerator, and a tankless hot water system ensure the same level of functionality as that offered by a conventional house.

In the kitchen area, there is also an intriguing live edge dining bar with two elegant stools, almost hidden under the staircase. This thoughtful touch, along with other special features such as a wine rack neatly integrated in the loft's protection wall, the laundry space, and the entryway locker, prove that compact dwellings can still offer a few luxuries without cluttering or compromising the overall sense of space.

Past the kitchen, we can find Columbia’s bathroom, which is not very large but manages to fit everything a modern bathroom should include, like a toilet, full-size shower, vanity, and ample storage.

There are plenty of things to love about the Columbia tiny home on wheels, but the simple yet efficient layout and the clever integration of luxury amenities is what makes it stand out. If this perfect fusion of style, comfort, and efficiency appeals to you, get ready to pay $134,999 CAD / $99,999 USD for this charming tiny house.
