Dubai is, by no means, the only place in the world where money arriving in more or less standard fashion ends up hurting exotic and luxury rides, so we’ve already gotten used to seeing dream cars abandoned. The latest example of this sees a Mercedes-Benz CLS550 appearing to have been left to die slowly.
The Black example of the German grand tourer was spotted covered in dust in an indoor parking lot. Sure, the car isn’t exposed to the elements, but compare the amount of dust covering it with the sparkling-clean state of other vehicles around it and you’ll understand it’s been sitting there for quite a while.

As always with these cars, one can never be sure they’ve been truly abandoned. On most occasions, owners went into financial troubles and perhaps fled the country. Nonetheless, some of these vehicles do receive attention after their unplanned retirement intervals, but once you’ve left a car in the parking lot for years, things aren’t all that simple.

Why cars need to be run periodically

There are common sense issues that typically occur when a car gets abandoned, with the most obvious one being the decaying of all rubber elements, such as the seals. From the doors to the turbocharger, you’ll have quite a list of seals to replace.

Items such as the tires, battery, filters and sometimes even the brake discs and pads will need to be changed.  Sometimes, the problems can go as deep as engine seizure and the amount of work required to bring a powerplant back to life will lead to a terrifyingly-long bill.

This US-spec pre-revamp Mercedes CL550 mixes its twin-turbo 4.7-liter V8 with an interior capable of spoiling the most exigent of passengers, so let’s just hope the Benz is saved until it’s too late.
