Dear petrolheads, the moment we have all feared has arrived; machine has defeated man and there is nothing left to do then hope there’s a John Connor out there to save the world. We’re here to tell you that Usain Bolt, commonly regarded as the fastest man on the planet, has been wiped out by a Segway. Not literally, of course, but it did happen moments after the athlete won the 200m final at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing.
In case you missed the sports scene lately, we’ll remind you the 15th World Championships in Athletics is currently going full gear in Beijing, China. We’re three days from the finish line, but things are already getting quite interesting.

Being the car people you know we are, speed is of great importance here at autoevolution, which is also why we find ourselves on the Usain Bolt fan club this time. So far, he is 2 for 2 in the world track and field championships, and this happens seven years after he was 3 for 3 in his finals at the 2008 Summer Olympics. This guy is a legend, honestly.

However, it appears being the fastest man on the planet won’t save you from accidents like the one he was involved in the other day. A cameraman pushed the wrong button and lost control of the Segway two-wheeler he was riding and slipped right into the Jamaican athlete.

No need to worry, though, nobody was injured during the awkward incident. Nevertheless, it once again proves that machines are something we should take rather take serious, just like Elon Musk keeps saying.

Leaving the jokes behind, we find the Segway in question quite peculiar since, as far as we know, most of them come with a handle stick, whereas this one lacks this feature. We’re not the expert here, but the two-wheeler the cameraman was using seems to be part of the second generation models, perhaps the x2 design. That one still has a stick, so we can only assume the guy customized it so he could use it in the best way. Maybe that was the problem in the first place.
