What has DSG, TSI, TDI, moves with BlueMotion and can carry a lot of stuff. It can only be the brand new Volkswagen Golf Variant.

Built on the seventh-generation platform of the Golf hatch, this estate model comes with better practicality and will make its official debut in a few days at the Geneva Motor Show.

A few days ago, we showed you this very VW model testing in Germany with only minimal camouflage covering the taillights. Now, we have official photos showing the mysterious lights in detail before all will be revealed in Switzerland.

The engine range for the Golf Variant will start with the base 1.2-liter TSI producing 85 horsepower. As per usual, the cheaper model will not have independent rear suspension. But if an advanced wagon is what you’re after, than the Golf Variant offer all-wheel drive. Since it uses the same MQB platform, the Golf Variant is also likely to get hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

Hopefully, when this model does make it to North America, the styling will be left as-is and not changed to match a future Jetta sedan.
